Uintah Pappoose
The Uintah Papoose, first published in 1903 in Myton, Utah, was one of the earliest newspapers in the Uinta Basin. Its name reflected the region’s proximity to the Uintah Valley Reservation, though like many newspapers of its era, it often presented events from a settler perspective. In 1908, the Papoose was succeeded by the Uintah Chieftain, which expanded coverage of local affairs, regional development, and reservation issues, establishing itself as the basin’s leading paper for decades.
